Types of Styes

There are several types of styes also known as hordeolum which are small painful lumps that appear on or inside the eyelid they are usually caused by a bacterial infection in the oil glands of the eyelids.
Styes can be two main types External Styes and Internal Styes.

External styes

Appears on the outer part of the eyelid it is often caused by an infection in the hair follicle of an eyelashes or in the oil glands of the eyelid responsible a pimple an external styes hordeolum is a red painful bump that forms on the outer edge of the eyelid it is caused by a bacterial infection.
External Stye

Internal Styes

Caused by an infection in the oil meibomian glands that line the eyelid, typically more painful than an external stye and can cause the entire eyelid to swell Internal styes also known as internal hordeolum, Unlike external styes which form at the edge of the eyelid internal styes are less visible but can cause significant discomfort While not typically a serious condition untreated internal styes can lead to complications, making it essential to understand their causes symptoms and treatment options.
Internal Stye

Causes of Styes

Bacterial infection most styes are caused by Staphylococcus aureus, a common skin bacterium that infects the oil glands or hair follicles of the eyelids the eyelids contain tiny oil glands that can become clogged with dead skin oil or debris creating a breeding ground for bacteria. Poor hygiene or frequently touching the eyes can introduce bacteria increasing the risk of developing a stye using old or shared eye makeup or not removing makeup properly can introduce bacteria into the eye area not washing the face or hands regularly can increase the likelihood of bacterial infection near the eyes. Styes usually heal on their own but warm compresses can help recovery.

Presbyopia: Symptoms, Causes, Diagnosis and Treatment

What is Presbyopia ? Presbyopia is a natural age-related condition in which the eye's ability to focus on near objects is reduced due to the lens becoming stiffer. This happens because the eye's lens becomes less flexible. The condition affects almost everyone to some degree and is not considered a disease but a normal part of the aging process. It usually begins to develop around age 38 or 40 and gets worse by the mid-60s and causes difficulty with reading or other close-up tasks. Causes of Presbyopia Presbyopia is an age-related process these age-related changes occur within the proteins in the lens, which make the lens stiffer and less elastic over time. The main cause of presbyopia is a gradual loss of stiffness and flexibility in the natural lens inside your eye. As you age, the lens gradually loses its flexibility, and is less able to quickly change its shape for close-up viewing. These age-related changes occur within the proteins in the lens, which make the lens stiffer...
